Collard Greens

Ingredients:
  • 2 lbs bag shredded collards (triple washed)
  • 4 C Chicken Broth
  • 2 Tbsp Better than Base Ham Flavor
  • 1 large onion coarse chopped
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1/2 C vinegar (red wine or cider)

Directions:
Put all ingredients into a large pot.  Add enough water to just below raw collards. They will reduce volume as they cook.  Bring to boil.  Reduce heat and simmer covered for about 45-60 minutes or until your desired tenderness is reached. 

Note:  Ever since I realized that I could buy washed and prepared collards, I stopped buying canned.
